BY JUDICIARY AND RULES COMMITTEE
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION
2 STATING FINDINGS OF THE SENATE AND AMENDING SENATE RULE 4.
3 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Idaho:
4 WHEREAS, the Senate finds that it is in the interest of the Senate that
5 Rule 4 of the Rules of the Senate be amended.
6 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Senate, assembled in
7 the First Regular Session of the Fifty-seventh Idaho Legislature, that Senate
8 Rule 4 be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
9 RULE 4
10 Order of Business.--(A) The Senate having been called to order at the
11 hour to which it shall adjourn and a quorum being present, the order of busi-
12 ness shall be as follows:
13 (1) Roll Call
14 (2) Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance
15 (3) Reading and Correction of Journal
16 (4) Reading of Communications
17 (5) Presentation of Petitions, Resolutions and Memorials
18 (6) Reports of Standing Committees
19 (7) Reports of Special Committees
20 (8) Consideration of Messages from the Governor
21 (9) Consideration of Messages from the House of Representatives
22 (10) Motions and Consideration of Petitions, Resolutions and Memorials
23 (11) Introduction, First Reading and Reference of Bills, House Petitions,
24 Resolutions and Memorials
25 (12) Second Reading of Bills
26 (13) Third Reading of Bills
27 (14) Consideration of General Calendar
28 (15) Miscellaneous Business
29 Special Orders.--(B) Any question brought before the Senate for consider-
30 ation may be made a Special Order by a two-thirds majority vote. Unless
31 otherwise ordered, Special Orders shall be taken up during the first call of
32 the Fourteenth Order of Business and matters on Special Order shall be dis-
33 posed of in rotation prior to call of the General Calendar. Whenever any mat-
34 ter is made a Special Order and the consideration thereof shall not be com-
35 pleted at that sitting, it shall be returned to and retain its place as a Spe-
36 cial Order for the next call of the Fourteenth Order of Business or such other
37 hour at the next session as may have been originally fixed.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS 12568
The purpose of this resolution amends Senate Rule Four by adding
the Pledge of Allegiance to the second order of business.
FISCAL IMPACT
No special printing of the rules is contemplated and therefore no
fiscal impact is projected.
