                                    HOUSE BILL NO. 572

                               BY APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    RELATING TO THE BUDGET RESERVE FUND; DIRECTING THE STATE CONTROLLER TO  TRANS-
 3        FER MONEYS FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO THE BUDGET RESERVE FUND; AND DECLARING
 4        AN EMERGENCY.

 5    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 6        SECTION  1.  On  or  before  June 30, 1998, the State Controller is hereby
 7    directed to make a cash transfer of $8,500,000 from the General  Fund  to  the
 8    Budget Reserve Fund.

 9        SECTION  2.  An  emergency  existing  therefor,  which emergency is hereby
10    declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after its
11    passage and approval.

                         STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
                               RS 07735
                                   
    
    This legislation transfers $8.5 million from the General Fund to the Budget Reserve Fund during 
    the current fiscal year. With this transfer the Budget Reserve Fund balance will be 
    $36,030,195.
    
                             [FISCAL NOTE
    
    The estimated General Fund balance at June 30, 1998, will be reduced from approximately 
    $25 million to $17 million. The FY 1998 year end balance will be carried-over to FY 1999 
    and be available for appropriation.
