                             BY HEALTH AND WELFARE COMMITTEE

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    RELATING TO THE PRACTICE OF NURSING; AMENDING  CHAPTER  14,  TITLE  54,  IDAHO
 3        CODE,  BY  THE  ADDITION  OF A NEW SECTION 54-1417, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE
 4        THAT A PERSON LICENSED BY THE BOARD OF NURSING SHALL IDENTIFY THEIR LICEN-
 5        SURE ON A NAME TAG WHEN DELIVERING DIRECT PATIENT CARE.

 6    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 7        SECTION 1.  That Chapter 14, Title 54, Idaho Code, be,  and  the  same  is
 8    hereby  amended  by  the addition thereto of a  NEW SECTION , to be
 9    known and designated as Section 54-1417, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:

10        54-1417.  NURSE IDENTIFICATION. Every person  licensed  pursuant  to  this
11    chapter  shall identify that he or she is so licensed by displaying either the
12    title or abbreviation of the appropriate licensure on a name tag or other sim-
13    ilar form of identification during times when such person is providing  direct
14    patient care.

    The purpose of this legislation is to require that nurses licensed by the Board of 
    Nursing display their license title when they are providing direct patient care.
    
                                FISCAL NOTE
    
    No impact to the General Fund. An approximate cost of $3.00 per name tag could be 
    incurred by the state or county agencies or an individual if they are not currently in 
    compliance with this requirement.
