S1009|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-fifth Legislature First Regular Session - 1999IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1009, As Amended BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND TAXATION COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO OWYHEE COUNTY; AMENDING SECTION 31-139, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE 3 CORRECT BOUNDARIES OF OWYHEE COUNTY AND TO PROVIDE THAT MURPHY IS THE 4 COUNTY SEAT OF OWYHEE COUNTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. 5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 6 SECTION 1. That Section 31-139, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby 7 amended to read as follows: 8 31-139. OWYHEE COUNTY. Owyhee county is described as follows: beginning 9 on the Snake river at the mouth of Owyhee river; 10 Western boundary. Thence south along the eastern boundary line of the 11 state of Oregon to the northern boundary of the state of Nevada; 12 Southern boundary. Thence east along the northern boundary of the state of 13 Nevada (1 Ter. Sess. 628) to the thirty-eighth (38th) meridian of longitude 14 west from Washington; 15 Eastern boundary. Thence north along the said meridian to the south 16 boundary of township 7 south range 12 east. Thence west along the south bound- 17 ary of township 7 south ranges 12, 11, 10 and 9 east to the southwest corner 18 of township 7 south range 9 east. Thence north along the west boundary of 19 township 7 south range 9 east to the northwest corner of said township. 20 Thence east to the southwest corner of township 6 south range 9 east. Thence 21 north along the west boundary of said township to the Snake river22(10 Ter. Sess. 43); 23 Northern boundary. Thence down the channel of the Snake river in a west- 24 erly direction to the mouth of the Owyhee river, the place of beginning. 25 County seat --Silver CityMurphy . 26 SECTION 2. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby 27 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after its 28 passage and approval.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of this Legislation is to change the Owyhee County
Seat from Silver City, Idaho to Murphy, Idaho. And to correct the legal
discription.
