In addition to any other appropriation, there is hereby appro- 18 priated to the Public Utilities Commission for commissioner salaries and bene- 19 fit costs, to be expended according to the designated expense class from the 20 listed fund, for the period July 1, 1998, through June 30, 1999: 21 FOR: 22 Personnel Costs $11,300 23 FROM: 24 General Fund $11,300 25 SECTION 2. In addition to any other appropriation, there is hereby appro- 26 priated to the State Tax Commission for commissioner salaries and benefit 27 costs, to be expended according to the designated expense class from the 28 listed funds, for the period July 1, 1998, through June 30, 1999: 29 FOR: 30 Personnel Costs $49,600 31 FROM: 32 General Fund $44,600 33 Administration Services for Transportation Fund 5,000 34 TOTAL $49,600 35 SECTION 3. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS08677 This is a fiscal year 1999 supplemental appropriation to fund the adjustment in the salaries of statewide elected officials and commissioners. This supplemental funds salary increases for the Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Treasurer, Controller, and Attorney General as authorized by HB 75laaS of 1998. Additionally, it funds salary increases for the commissioners of the Public Utilities Commission, State Tax Commission, and Industrial Commission as authorized by SB 1413 of 1998. The statutory salary increases authorized for the statewide elected officials and commissioners passed late in the 1998 legislative session after their budgets had been set. FISCAL NOTE The total cost to the General Fund in fiscal year 1999 will be $84,900. This is the cost of the new salary levels and benefits for the statewide elected officials, Public Utilities Commissioners, and a portion of the Tax Commissioners' salaries. The Industrial Commissioners' salaries and the remaining portion of the Tax Commissioners' salaries are funded with dedicated funds, namely the Industrial Administration Fund and the Administration Services for Transportation Fund. The total cost to the Industrial Administration Fund and the Administration Services for Transportation Fund in fiscal year 1999 will be $22,800 and $5,000 respectively.The total funding provided by this bill is $112,700.
