  1                                        AN ACT
  2    APPROPRIATING MONEYS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2001;  AND
  3        LIMITING THE NUMBER OF FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT POSITIONS.
                                                                        
  4    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  5        SECTION  1.  There  is  hereby appropriated to the Department of Insurance
  6    the following amounts, to be expended for the designated programs according to
  7    the designated expense classes from the listed funds for the  period  July  1,
  8    2000, through June 30, 2001:

 27        SECTION 2.  In accordance with Section 67-3519, Idaho Code, the Department
 28    of  Insurance is authorized no more than sixty-eight and one-half (68.5) full-
 29    time equivalent positions at any point during the period July 1, 2000, through
 30    June 30, 2001, for the programs specified in Section 1  of  this  act,  unless
 31    specifically authorized by the Governor. The Joint Finance-Appropriations Com-
 32    mittee will be notified promptly of any increased positions so authorized.

This is the fiscal year 2001 appropriation for the Department of Insurance in the amount of $5,783,100.

The Department of Insurance consists of two programs: Insurance Regulation and the State Fire Marshal. It receives no General Fund money.

Included in this appropriation are four additional FTP – two Compliance Officers, one IT Programmer, and one Health Insurance Analyst. Also included is $9,200 for overtime pay for the State Fire Marshals, $100,000 for repair to the Department’s facility, and $34,200 for a contract with the Commission on Aging.

This appropriation also limits the Department’s number of full-time positions for FY 2001.
