  1                                        AN ACT
  2    APPROPRIATING MONEYS TO THE SUPREME COURT IN  ADDITION  TO  THE  APPROPRIATION
  3        MADE  IN  SECTION 1, SENATE BILL NO. 1206, AS ENACTED BY THE FIRST REGULAR
  4        SESSION OF THE FIFTY-SIXTH IDAHO LEGISLATURE.
                                                                        
  5    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  6        SECTION 1.  In addition to the appropriation made  in  Section  1,  Senate
  7    Bill  No.  1206,  as  enacted  by the First Regular Session of the Fifty-sixth
  8    Idaho Legislature, there is hereby appropriated to the Supreme Court the  fol-
  9    lowing amount to be expended from the listed fund for the period July 1, 2001,
 10    through June 30, 2002:

Statement of Purpose

This is a trailer appropriation bill for FY 2002 for the Judicial Branch to expand the Drug Court programs as provided for in Senate Bill 1171.

Fiscal Note

This bill appropriates a total of $991,000 from the General Fund to operate Drug Courts in Idaho for FY 2002. A total of $490,000 is appropriated to pay for drug court coordinators and drug court secretaries for each of the seven judicial districts. $42,000 is provided on a one-time basis to buy computers for each of the coordinators and secretaries. Each judicial district shall also receive $37,500 that totals $262,500 for drug testing of participants ($500 x 75 participants), and each shall also receive $18,500 for a total of $129,500 for ongoing operating expenses. One position and a total of $67,000 is provided for a resource/research analyst position to coordinate this program for the Supreme Court. Of this total $58,500 is for personnel costs, $4,000 is for operating expenditures, and $4,500 is for one-time capital items.
