HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 41
BY HEALTH AND WELFARE COMMITTEE
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
2 STATING FINDINGS OF THE LEGISLATURE AND ENCOURAGING THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLE-
3 MENTATION OF A STATE WEBSITE PORTAL TO ASSIST IDAHOANS IN BECOMING MORE
4 INFORMED ABOUT HEALTHY LIFESTYLES AND AVAILABLE HEALTH CARE OPTIONS IN
5 IDAHO.
6 Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
7 WHEREAS, there is currently a lack of transparency in the pricing of
8 health care; and
9 WHEREAS, consumers of health care services do not have access to enough
10 information to make fully-informed decisions about the expenditure of their
11 health care dollars; and
12 WHEREAS, the health gains attained over the last thirty years have flat-
13 tened and the next generation of Americans may not live as long and healthy
14 lives as their parents; and
15 WHEREAS, the implementation of a "health.idaho.gov" website portal admin-
16 istered by the Idaho Department of Administration with the collaboration of
17 the Department of Insurance and the Division of Health, Department of Health
18 and Welfare, would assist Idahoans by disseminating health care information on
19 a wider and more accessible basis; and
20 WHEREAS, the "health.idaho.gov" website portal would be designed to
21 increase the health knowledge of all Idahoans and enable them to make informed
22 choices; and
23 WHEREAS, the "health.idaho.gov" website portal could provide information
24 including costs for health procedures and prescription drug programs, healthy
25 lifestyle choices and preventive health information, as well as links to
26 health care services and providers in Idaho.
27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Second Regular Ses-
28 sion of the Fifty-eighth Idaho Legislature, the House of Representatives and
29 the Senate concurring therein, that the Idaho Legislature encourages the
30 development and implementation of a "health.idaho.gov" website portal to
31 assist Idahoans in becoming more informed about healthy lifestyles and avail-
32 able health care options in Idaho.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS 15993
This House Concurrent Resolution presents findings of the
legislature outlining obstacles Idahoans face in obtaining health
information, as well as encourages the development and
implementation of a state website to assist Idahoans in becoming
more informed about healthy lifestyles and available health care
options in Idaho.
