]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-eighth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2006IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 487 BY SALI 1 AN ACT 2 STATING FINDINGS OF THE LEGISLATURE; AND PROVIDING THAT THE STATE CONTROLLER 3 SHALL TRANSFER MONEYS TO THE STATE TAX COMMISSION; AND DECLARING AN EMER- 4 GENCY. 5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 6 SECTION 1. It is the finding of the Legislature that, given the improved 7 economic conditions that have produced state revenues in excess of projec- 8 tions, and given the recent unprecedented increase in gasoline prices facing 9 Idaho motorists, it is in the best interest of the motoring citizens of the 10 state of Idaho to provide temporary relief from certain motor fuel taxes. The 11 appropriation contained in this act will provide relief for much of Idaho's 12 citizenry through a temporary moratorium on certain motor fuel taxes. 13 SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated and the State Controller shall 14 transfer on April 3, 2006, the sum of $34,806,800 from the General Fund to the 15 State Tax Commission for distribution pursuant to section 63-2412, Idaho Code. 16 In addition, there is hereby appropriated and the State Controller shall 17 transfer on April 3, 2006, the sum of $14,158,000 from the General Fund to the 18 State Tax Commission for distribution pursuant to section 63-2418, Idaho Code. 19 SECTION 3. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby 20 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after its 21 passage and approval.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 15794 To transfer $49 Million from the General Fund to the State Tax Commission to replace the $0.25 tax on motor fuels imposed by I.C. 63 2402 but suspended for 90 days by RS 15795. $34.8 Million will be distributed pursuant to I.C. 63 2412 and $14 Million will be distributed pursuant to I.C. 63 2418. FISCAL IMPACT Negative impact of almost $49 Million to the General Fund which will be distributed pursuant to I.C. 63 2412 and I.C. 63 2418. Contact Name: Rep.
