Session Job Opportunities

The Idaho Legislature employs approximately 70 to 80 people during legislative sessions to fill various support positions. These full-time seasonal positions typically begin early January and end around the first of April.

The Idaho Senate is now accepting applications for the 2019 Legislative Session. Below are basic descriptions and examples of the openings we are seeking to fill:

Secretary to Secretary of the Senate: Provides administrative support to the Secretary of the Senate’s Office. Duties include bill set-up, copying, and filing; keeping track of reports and appointments, and drafting letters.

Journal Clerk: Responsible to record each day’s proceedings in the Senate Journal. Maintains and files all reports and official documents. Has an understanding of the Senate rules and parliamentary process.

Minutes Editor: Responsible for reviewing and editing all of the Senate Committee minutes.

Committee Secretary: Serves as the secretary for the assigned Senate standing committee and is responsible for minutes, reports and agendas; assists the chairman in scheduling, organizing and filing.

Majority Staff Assistants: Serves as the secretary to three/four Senators and assists them with scheduling, filing and organizing. May also assist with the committee minutes.

Minority Staff Assistants: Legislative Aide to Democratic Senators; responsible for administration, research, constituent services and bill tracking.
