]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-eighth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2006IN THE SENATE SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 123 BY JUDICIARY AND RULES COMMITTEE 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 2 STATING FINDINGS OF THE LEGISLATURE AND RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE IDAHO 3 ATHLETES PARTICIPATING IN THE WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES IN TURIN, ITALY. 4 Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 5 WHEREAS, the XX Winter Olympics will be held in February in Turin, Italy; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, the Winter Olympics bring together the finest athletes in the 8 world in their respective sports; and 9 WHEREAS, the Winter Olympics bring out, to the fullest extent, the drama 10 of human athletic competition with "the thrill of victory and the agony of 11 defeat" with the resultant display of good sportsmanship by the competitors; 12 and 13 WHEREAS, there are seven Idahoans at the 2006 Winter Olympics and they are 14 Jeret Peterson, 2000 Timberline High School graduate in freestyle skiing, 15 Kristine Holzer, 1992 Centennial High School graduate who also attended the 16 University of Idaho, in long track speedskating (3000 meters), Nate Holland, 17 1997 Sandpoint High School graduate, in snowboardcross, Graham Watanabe, 2000 18 Wood River High School graduate, in snowboardcross, Lars Flora, 1996 Wood 19 River High School graduate, in cross country skiing, Courtney Yamada, born in 20 Idaho Falls and a resident of Boise, in the skeleton, and Werner Hoeger, Boise 21 State University kinesiology professor and Boise resident, in the luge repre- 22 senting Venezuela; and 23 WHEREAS, we wish Jeret soft sweet landings, Kristine's blades to run true, 24 Nate's line to be sweet and fast, Lars and Graham to ski speedily 'cross the 25 frozen snow, Courtney's sled to speed like a bullet down the track, and 26 Werner's experience to propel him to the front of the pack and that we wish 27 that all Idaho Olympians achieve their potential during the games without 28 injury; and 29 WHEREAS, all Idahoans in the Winter Olympic Games are to be especially 30 commended for being the best athletes in the world in their particular sport. 31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Second Regular Ses- 32 sion of the Fifty-eighth Idaho Legislature, the Senate and the House of Repre- 33 sentatives concurring therein, that the members of the Legislature take this 34 opportunity to recognize and honor the Idaho athletes participating in the 35 Winter Olympic Games and wish them the best of luck in their respective ath- 36 letic competitions. 37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate be, and she is 38 directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Jeret Peterson, Kristine 39 Holzer, Nate Holland, Graham Watanabe, Lars Flora, Courtney Yamada and Werner 40 Hoeger.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 16090 This Senate Concurrent Resolution recognizes Olympic athletes that hail from Idaho and wishes them well in the 2006 Torino, Italy Winter Olympic Games.
