STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS07918 The purpose of this Memorial is to strongly encourage the U.S. Congress to enact a new Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA). Congress adopted a 6-month Short Term Extension Act (STEA) which will expire on May 1, 1998. Without a reauthorization, Idaho will be left with only state funds to operate our transportation programs. FISCAL NOTE Idaho's portion of the 6-month extension is $52.9 million. The loss could be approximately double if not reauthorized or extended. CONTACT: Rep. Dave Bivens (208/332-1000) STATEMENT OF PURPOSE/ FISCAL NOTE HJM 13
