That Section 33-1004A, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby 9 amended to read as follows: 10 33-1004A. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION MULTIPLIER. Teachers certified 2 by the NBPTS shall be designated as master teachers.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 07707 The purpose of this legislation is to amend section 33-1004A, Idaho Code, to increase the education and experience multiplier of each instructional staff member by ten percent if the teacher has been certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and to designate teachers so certified as Master Teachers. This change is intended to encourage excellence in teaching. FISCAL IMPACT There is currently 1 teacher in the Idaho School District so certified. A number of others are seeking certification at this time. It is estimated that the additional cost per teacher would be $3,000 to $4,000 per teacher per year. Contact: Senator Gary J.
