S1014|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-fifth Legislature First Regular Session - 1999IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1014 BY FINANCE COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL MONEYS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LANDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 3 1999; PROVIDING TRANSFERS TO THE FIRE SUPPRESSION DEFICIENCY FUND; AND 4 DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. 5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 6 SECTION 1. In addition to the appropriation made in Section 1, Chapter 7 321, Laws of 1998, there is hereby appropriated to the Department of Lands the 8 following amounts to be expended for the Forest and Range Fire Protection pro- 9 gram from the listed funds for the period July 1, 1998, through June 30, 1999: 10 FROM: 11 General Fund $ 805,000 12 Fire Suppression Deficiency Fund 960,000 13 TOTAL $1,765,000 14 SECTION 2. The State Controller shall make cash transfers from the Gen- 15 eral Fund to the Fire Suppression Deficiency Fund, at the request of the 16 Director of the Department of Lands, not to exceed $805,000 as appropriated 17 from the General Fund in Section 1 of this act. 18 SECTION 3. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby 19 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after its 20 passage and approval.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE SB 1014 This bill provides additional fiscal year 1999 funding in the amount of $805,000 from the General Fund and $960,000 from the Fire Suppression Deficiency Fund for the Department of Lands. There were 353 fires which burned 659 acres during the 1998 fire season. This bill reimburses the deficiency warrant fund from the General Fund and provides spending authority for reimbursements received from other states for the costs of our firefighters to assist them. Note: Reappropriation reflects unused funding provided in previous years and carried over into FY 1999 for Triumph Mine cleanup.
