STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS08640 The purpose of this legislation is to require taxing districts to notify the county clerk, by no later than April 30, of their budget hearing and location. A proposed change in the Tax Assessment Notice is intended to provide more information to the public including taxing districts budget hearing dates and locations. It is necessary for all districts to determine when and where they will be holding their budget hearing so it can be listed on the notice. FISCAL NOTE There will be costs to the counties of approximately $100,000 statewide for additional postage once the Tax Assessment Notice mailer is completed. Also, there will be a cost to the State Tax Commission of $40,000 for computer programming and $37,000 for the costs of the new forms.
