STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 09796 The purpose of this bill is to provide a fee increase for recording documents, issuing marriage licenses and recording plats or maps. Recording fees have not been increased since 1987 while the demands for services and expenses have increased, especially in the area of new technology. Taking into account inflation over those thirteen years the value of the fees would be nearly what is being proposed by this legislation. The income to counties is user fees which will continue to minimize the necessity of using property tax to fund that county operation. FISCAL IMPACT There is no impact on the state general fund. There would be an increase of nearly $2.5 million to counties. CONTACT: Idaho Association of Counties Phone: 345-9126 Dan Chadwick, Tony Poinelli, Paul Beddoe STATEMENT OF PURPOSE/FISCAL IMPACT H 537
