Statement of Purpose RS10773 This is a Fiscal Year 2001 supplemental for the Superintendent of Public Instruction/Department of Education. Fiscal Note This bill provides funding for the following two items: 1.) Provides an additional $20 million in spending authority in the area of federal funds. These are funds that the department passes through to local school districts, and represents federal grant programs such as school lunch and breakfast funds, the summer food program, migrant education funds, drug free school funds, and class size reduction funds. 2.) Provides two FTP and $132,000 in spending authority to allow the department to spend grant funds from the Albertson s Foundation. This program will examine what programs and practices create high performing schools in Idaho, and will attempt to bring these practices to other Idaho schools. Since the program is a three year grant, the two positions would be authorized and limited-service appointments, and would only last as long as grant funds continue to be made available.
