  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO SALARIES OF LAW CLERKS; AMENDING CHAPTER 11, TITLE 1, IDAHO  CODE,
  3        BY  THE  ADDITION  OF  A  NEW  SECTION  1-1110, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE FOR
  4        APPOINTMENT AND SALARIES OF LAW CLERKS.
                                                                        
  5    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  6        SECTION 1.  That Chapter 11, Title 1, Idaho Code,  be,  and  the  same  is
  7    hereby  amended by the addition thereto of a NEW SECTION, to be known and des-
  8    ignated as Section 1-1110, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:
                                                                        
  9        1-1110.  SALARIES OF LAW CLERKS. There may be  appointed  within  and  for
 10    each  of  the  judicial districts of this state, by each district judge, a law
 11    clerk, who shall be well-skilled in the drafting of legal opinions  or  plead-
 12    ings and capable of doing legal research and shall possess other such qualifi-
 13    cations  as  deemed appropriate. The salary and benefits of law clerk(s) shall
 14    be paid by the state and paid on regular pay periods not less frequently  than
 15    monthly as determined by order of the supreme court.

Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact

                       STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
                            RS 10803
The purpose of this bill is to require that the state of Idaho
pay the salaries and benefits for law clerks required by the
courts.
                          FISCAL IMPACT
There will be an increase to the General Fund of approximately
$1.5 million and a reduction of the same to Idaho's counties
statewide.
