Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact

                       STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
                           RS 10766C1
Juveniles placed in state institutions today receive twelve
months of educational instruction. However, the county juvenile
centers are currently receiving only nine months of instruction
due to the organization of the school year. This bill would
provide funding on a twelve month period. Payments will be made
using average daily attendance as the funding tool.

                          FISCAL IMPACT

Requirements for 11 county centers will require approximately 20
teachers and 18 aides plus supplies for a total of approximately
$225,000.
