2 APPROPRIATING MONEYS TO THE IDAHO STATE POLICE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2002; LIMITING
3 THE NUMBER OF AUTHORIZED FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT POSITIONS; EXPRESSING LEGIS-
4 LATIVE INTENT WITH REGARD TO OFFICER ALLOCATION; AND EXPRESSING LEGISLA-
5 TIVE INTENT WITH REGARD TO THE IDAHO STATE POLICE ENFORCING THE PROVISIONS
6 OF THE PREVENTION OF MINORS' ACCESS TO TOBACCO DURING FISCAL YEAR 2002.
7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

24 SECTION 2. In accordance with Section 67-3519, Idaho Code, the Idaho
25 State Police is authorized no more than five hundred forty-two and seven-
26 hundredths (542.07) full-time equivalent positions at any point during the
27 period July 1, 2001, through June 30, 2002, for the programs specified in Sec-
28 tion 1 of this act, unless specifically authorized by the Governor. The Joint
29 Finance-Appropriations Committee will be notified promptly of any increased
30 positions so authorized.
31 SECTION 3. It is the intent of the Legislature that the Idaho State
32 Police shall reallocate at least four (4) patrol officer positions from Region
33 3 to other regions around the state, once the new motorcycle patrol is active
34 in the Treasure Valley, to support the need for enhanced patrol activity in
35 rural areas.
36 SECTION 4. It is the intent of the Legislature that the Idaho State
37 Police shall enter into an agreement with the Department of Health and Welfare
38 to manage and enforce the provisions of Chapter 57, Title 39, Idaho Code,
39 (Prevention of Minors' Access to Tobacco) for the period July 1, 2001, through
40 June 30, 2002.
