In accordance with Section 67-3519, Idaho Code, the Department 49 of Fish and Game is authorized no more than four hundred ninety-six (496) 50 full-time equivalent positions at any point during the period July 1, 1998, 51 through June 30, 1999, for the programs specified in Section 1 of this act, 52 unless specifically authorized by the Governor. The Joint Finance- 53 Appropriations Committee will be notified promptly of any increased positions 4 1 so authorized. 2 SECTION 3. It is legislative intent that the Idaho Fish and Game Commis- 3 sion continue efforts to make the Idaho Wildlife magazine completely self-sup- 4 porting from revenues earned by the magazine from subscriptions, advertising 5 income or private donations, and that by June 30, 1999, no hunting or fishing 6 license or tag moneys, nor any federal moneys be used in support of the maga- 7 zine. 8 SECTION 4. It is legislative intent that of the moneys to be transferred 9 from the Fish and Game Fund to the Animal Damage Control Fund in Section 10 36-112(2), Idaho Code, for research projects, $20,000 shall be retained by the 11 Department of Fish and Game for fiscal year 1999, and used for a study of 12 predator impacts on big game species, focusing on wolves in the Salmon region. 13 SECTION 5. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $50,000 from the Gen- 14 eral Fund to the Animal Damage Control Program in the Department of Agricul- 15 ture for the period July 1, 1998 through June 30, 1999.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE HB 778 This bill is the FY 1999 appropriation for the Department of Fish and Game, and is based on no new revenues from adjustments to tags or licenses. If legislation passes which authorizes additional revenue, a follow-up appropriation bill will be considered in JFAC.
