H0838|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-fourth Legislature Second Regular Session - 1998IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 838 BY APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL MONEYS FOR THE DIVISION OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION FOR 3 FISCAL YEAR 1999; AND EXPRESSING LEGISLATIVE INTENT WITH REGARD TO QUALI- 4 FICATIONS FOR FUNDING AS A PROFESSIONAL-TECHNICAL SCHOOL. 5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 6 SECTION 1. In addition to any other appropriation made to the State Board 7 for Vocational Education for the Division of Vocational Education, there is 8 hereby appropriated $400,000 for Trustee and Benefit Payments from the General 9 Fund to the State Board for Vocational Education, to be expended by the Divi- 10 sion of Vocational Education General Programs program, for support of the 11 added cost of professional-technical schools as established by Section 12 33-1002G, Idaho Code, as added by House Bill 510, as amended, Second Regular 13 Session of the Fifty-fourth Idaho Legislature, for the period July 1, 1998, 14 through June 30, 1999. 15 SECTION 2. It is the intent of the legislature that a set of cooperative 16 service agency vocational-technical programs meeting the criteria outlined in 17 the legislation and by the State Board for Vocational Education would meet the 18 requirement of a separate site specified in House Bill 510, as amended, Second 19 Regular Session of the Fifty-fourth Idaho Legislature.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE H 838 This bill provides the appropriation necessary to implement the provisions of 67-1002G established by House Bill 510aa, 1998 Legislature, allowing qualifying school districts to establish professional-technical schools and to apply for funding through the State Board for Vocational Education. Such funding would provide increased support of the costs of offering new and enhanced vocational-technical programs at the secondary school level and would encourage expansion of these opportunities for students. This bill also expresses legislative intent with regard to qualifications for funding as a professional- technical school. FISCAL NOTE Appropriates $400,000 from the General Fund to the State Board for Vocational Education (A.K.A. State Board of Education) for the Division of Vocational Education for FY 1999.
