S1521|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-fourth Legislature Second Regular Session - 1998IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1521 BY FINANCE COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL MONEYS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION FOR FISCAL 3 YEAR 1998; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. 4 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 5 SECTION 1. In addition to the appropriation made in Section 1, Chapter 6 334, Laws of 1997, there is hereby appropriated to the Department of Correc- 7 tion the following amounts to be expended for the designated program according 8 to the designated standard classifications from the listed fund for the period 9 July 1, 1997, through June 30, 1998: 10 A. ADMINISTRATION: 11 FOR: 12 Operating Expenditures $ 180,000 13 Trustee and Benefit Payments 5,100,000 14 TOTAL $5,280,000 15 FROM: 16 General Fund $5,280,000 17 SECTION 2. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby 18 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after its 19 passage and approval.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
SB 1521
This bill provides a $5,280,000 supplemental appropriation for the Department of Correction for fiscal
year 1998.

1) Transport staff and van were zero funded.
2) An additional $5,100,000 of General Funds for county jail space for state inmates, and
out-of-state contracts for housing inmates. This funding is one-time only.
3) Adds $180,000 of General Funds to the Administration Program for additional liability insurance
premium to the Idaho Department of Administration.
