H0591|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-fourth Legislature Second Regular Session - 1998IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 591 BY MILLER 1 AN ACT 2 APPROPRIATING MONEYS TO THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR THE IDAHO WATER 3 RESOURCES INSTITUTE FOR THE PERIOD FROM JULY 1, 1998, THROUGH JUNE 30, 4 2001. 5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 6 SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated to the State Board of Education 7 for the Idaho Water Resources Institute, $250,000 from the General Fund, for 8 the period July 1, 1998, through June 30, 2001. This money is to be used to 9 compile "The Idaho Water Atlas" which would present, in a graphic, easy to 10 read manner, the locations, amounts, quality, and uses of water throughout the 11 state of Idaho. The atlas will contain a history of water development in 12 Idaho, and descriptions of rivers and streams, lakes and reservoirs, major 13 aquifers, water consumption, water quality, hydroelectricity generation, and 14 water recreation. The atlas will document surface and ground water statistics 15 for the state in tabular and graphical forms with allied CDROM compilation. It 16 will also include discussions of major water issues currently facing Idahoans. 17 The project will be accomplished with input and cooperation from the Depart- 18 ment of Water Resources, the Idaho Geological Survey, the Division of Environ- 19 mental Quality and the University of Idaho.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 07846 This appropriation is to support compilation and publication of an IDAHO WATER ATLAS to be readied by 2002. This atlas will provide, in a centralized and readily available form, comprehensive state water information of use to industry, citizen water users, agricultural enterprises, state, county and city agencies, the Legislature, libraries, schools, higher education institutions, legal firms, the courts and other offices. FISCAL NOTE As stated in the bill this will entail an appropriation of $250,000 for the Idaho Water Resources Institute to cover a three year preparation schedule.
