Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact

                      STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
                            RS 08432

The purpose of this legislation is to streamline the process for the disposal of unclaimed stolen or
embezzled property. This proposal will shift the responsibility from the county treasurer to the board of county
commissioners and the county sheriff who are currently charged with the disposal of other unneeded county
property.

                         FISCAL IMPACT
There will be no fiscal impact on the State General Fund or any political subdivision of the State. Some
efficiencies may be gained by consolidating property disposal functions in the office of the sheriff.
