LICENSES - SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER - Amends existing law to provide that the
Department of Health and Welfare shall apply to the U.S. Government for a
waiver from the requirement to supply a Social Security Number on
applications for recreational licenses; and to provide that upon receipt of
approval of the waiver, no person shall be required to submit a Social
Security Number on any application for any license, permit or tag for any
recreational privilege issued by the state of Idaho.

                                    HOUSE BILL NO. 301

                                BY STATE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    RELATING TO USE OF SOCIAL SECURITY  NUMBER;  AMENDING  SECTION  73-122,  IDAHO
 3        CODE,  TO  REQUIRE  THE  DEPARTMENT  OF  HEALTH AND WELFARE TO APPLY FOR A
 4        WAIVER, AND TO PROVIDE THAT UPON APPROVAL OF THE WAIVER NO SOCIAL SECURITY
 5        NUMBER SHALL BE REQUIRED ON ANY APPLICATION FOR ANY LICENSE, PERMIT OR TAG
 6        FOR ANY RECREATIONAL PRIVILEGE ISSUED BY THE STATE OF IDAHO; AND DECLARING
 7        AN EMERGENCY.

 8    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 9        SECTION 1.  That Section 73-122, Idaho Code, be, and the  same  is  hereby
10    amended to read as follows:

11        73-122.  SOCIAL  SECURITY  NUMBER    --  EXCEPTION  .  (1)
12      The social security number of an applicant shall be  recorded  on  any
13    application for a professional, occupational or recreational license.
14          (2)  The  department of health and welfare shall submit an applica-
15    tion for a waiver, and upon approval of the waiver by the U.S. government,  no
16    social  security  number shall be required on any application for any license,
17    permit or tag for any recreational privilege issued by  the  state  of  Idaho.
18    

19        SECTION  2.  An  emergency  existing  therefor,  which emergency is hereby
20    declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after its
21    passage and approval.

This will require the Department of Health and Welfare to apply for a waiver
and to provide that upon approval of the waiver no social security number
shall be required on any application for any license, permit or tag for any
recreational privilege issued by the state of Idaho.
