S1190|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-fifth Legislature First Regular Session - 1999IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1190 BY EDUCATION COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO KINDERGARTENS; AMENDING SECTION 33-208, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE 3 THAT SCHOOL DISTRICTS SHALL OFFER KINDERGARTEN. 4 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 5 SECTION 1. That Section 33-208, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby 6 amended to read as follows: 7 33-208. KINDERGARTENS AND CHILD ATTENDANCE NOT COMPULSORY. It shall8notbe compulsory for individual school districts to establish a kin- 9 dergarten program; and it shall not be mandatory for a child who is eligible 10 by age for attendance to enroll in an established public kindergarten.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of this legislation is to amend Section 33-208, Idaho Code, to
provide that school districts shall have kindergarten.
FISCAL IMPACT
All school districts currently offer kindergarten programs so there will be
no fiscal impact to the General Fund or to local school districts.
