STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 09770 Any public works construction project over $5,000 requires the contractor to have a public works license. The purpose of this bill is to change the limit to projects over $10,000. The proposed limit of $10,000 simply reflects inflation over the past 20 years. The last time the limit was adjusted was 1980, when the limit went from $1,000 to $5,000. FISCAL IMPACT There would be no fiscal impact to the state general fund. There could be modest savings to cities by having more competition for public works projects. Contact: Rep.
