STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 10109 The purpose of this legislation is to require publication of, in the local newspaper, a listing by school of identified health and safety needs in a school district's buildings. The goal is to ensure that patrons are aware of these issues and to build a climate for support for funding the fixes needed to ensure our public schools are safe for our children. FISCAL IMPACT There will be a fiscal impact on school districts that are required to publish the list of health and safety needs in the local district. The fiscal impact will vary by district due to cost variation in advertising in newspapers and to the length of the list to be published.
