STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 10042C1 The purpose of this legislation is to clearly exempt from the law relating to social work, employees of health care facilities who are designated in writing to be responsible for that facility's social services program and who receive regular consultation from a qualified social worker. By clearly exempting social services designees, this legislation will allow a practice to continue in Idaho which has been permitted by Department of Health and Welfare rules since 1988. FISCAL NOTE There is no fiscal impact on the General Fund. By permitting health care facilities to continue using social services designees, this legislation has the potential to help health care facilities keep their costs relating to social services down which will have a beneficial fiscal impact on the Medicaid program in the future.
