                                BY APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE
                                                                        
  1                                        AN ACT
  2    APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL MONEYS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE CORRECTIONS  FOR
  3        FISCAL YEAR 2001; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
                                                                        
  4    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  5        SECTION  1.  In  addition  to the appropriation made in Section 1, Chapter
  6    454, Laws of 2000, there is hereby appropriated to the Department of  Juvenile
  7    Corrections  the following amount to be expended for the named program accord-
  8    ing to the designated expense class from the listed fund for the  period  July
  9    1, 2000, through June 30, 2001:

 15        SECTION  2.  An  emergency  existing  therefor,  which emergency is hereby
 16    declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after its
 17    passage and approval.

Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact



                  Statement of Purpose

This is a FY 2001 supplemental appropriation for the Idaho Department of Juvenile
Corrections.
                       Fiscal Note
This appropriation provides an additional $1,456,200 in one-time General Funds to
the Institutions Program within the Department to pay contract providers to house
and treat
juvenile offenders in state custody. With these additional funds the Department will
have a combination of $16.9 million in General Funds, federal funds, and child
support and social security insurance receipts to pay for private providers in fiscal
year 2001. The number of juveniles placed with private providers is expected to
range between 300 to 305 per day at an average daily rate of $160.
