STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 10546 The purpose of the language changes to Statute 20-214 are to provide the state board of correction with the power and authority to specify the training of IDOC employees. POST will be submitting a proposed amendment to Statute 19-5109, as follows: The council may implement such minimum basic training and certification standards for department of correction assistants and officers as the board of correction may specify. The proposed changes will have an impact on state funds when POST takes over pre-service and specialty training for IDOC. Because POST is in the process of developing their budget and hasn't completed their assessment of costs related to taking over IDOC training, it is difficult to ascertain what the fiscal impact will be.
