STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 11272 When the legislature is in session, a lieutenant governor who does not maintain a primary residence in Ada County is entitled to a per diem of $44 per day. In addition, a lieutenant governor who does not maintain a primary residence in Ada County is entitled to a per diem of $44 per day for each day actually spent in the office while the legislature is not in session. This legislation would amend Idaho Code to adjust the amount of per diem received by the lieutenant governor to reflect the same amount received by legislators, as determined by the citizens' committee on legislative compensation. FISCAL IMPACT The fiscal impact to the General Fund while the legislature is in session will be the same amount for an individual legislator. The total per diem for a legislator who maintains a second residence in Ada County during a regular session is approximately $8,400. The fiscal impact to the General Fund while the legislature is not in session will depend upon the number of days actually spent in the office by the lieutenant governor multiplied by $99 per day.
