  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO CORONERS; AMENDING SECTION 31-2802, IDAHO CODE, TO REMOVE LANGUAGE
  3        REFERENCING INQUESTS BY CORONERS AND TO MAKE GRAMMATICAL CHANGES.
                                                                        
  4    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  5        SECTION 1.  That Section 31-2802, Idaho Code, be, and the same  is  hereby
  6    amended to read as follows:
                                                                        
  7        31-2802.  BURIAL OF UNCLAIMED BODIES. When an inquest is held by the coro-
  8    ner, and no other person takes charge of the body of the deceased, the coroner
  9    must cause it the body to be decently interred; and if there is not sufficient
 10    property belonging to the estate of the deceased to pay the necessary expenses
 11    of the burial, the expenses are a legal charge against the county.

                          STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

                              RS 11577

This bill allows the coroner to take charge of an unclaimed body
for purposes of burial without holding an inquest.
