                           RS 11426C2

Idaho's capitol building is a significant public monument,
symbolizing Idaho's sovereignty and the spirit of Idaho's
citizens. The capitol building is one of Idaho's most renowned
landmarks. The Idaho Legislature has recognized the importance
of the capitol building by the creation of the Idaho state capitol
commission and the funding of the capitol renovation project.
This legislation will allow the Department of Administration,
Division of Public Works to require contractors and subcontractors
to be pre-qualified in their area of work in order to bid or be
included in bids for work on the capitol building, where a contract
is to be entered by the director of the Department of Administration
or his designee. The purpose is to ensure that the renovation work
is done by craftsman and contractors with the skills necessary to
successfully complete the required work in a timely fashion.
