STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 11996 The purpose of this legislation is to equalize registration on Motor Vehicles from 30,001 to 60,000lbs. maximum gross weight. This legislation adjusts rates to allow farmers the advantage of registering commercial vehicles at a reasonable rate. Recognizing most vehicles in these classes are currently in non- commercial rates, this legislation is revenue neutral. This creates a fair, more simple registration for these vehicles. FISCAL IMPACT No impact on the General Fund. Minimum impact on the Highway Distribution Account. New registration fees are the best estimates available to insure that this legislation is revenue neutral.
