STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS 13536
This bill would change the price of the controlled hunt application
and the controlled hunt permit. Currently, the fee for a
controlled hunt application and a controlled hunt permit are the
same ($5). Some members of the public have been confused by this
and feel that they are being charged twice for the same item. This
bill would avoid this confusion and differentiate the two fees by
decreasing the fee for a controlled hunt permit by one dollar and
increasing the fee for the controlled hunt application by fifty
cents.
FISCAL IMPACT
Revenue neutral. The one dollar decrease in the controlled hunt
permit fee would be offset by the fifty cent increase in the
controlled hunt application fee. In 2002, the were 87,707
controlled hunt applicants and 41,898 controlled hunt permits
issued.
Currently, a person pays a $5 controlled hunt application fee
(plus the $1.50 vendor fee) to apply for a controlled hunt, and if
successfully drawn, a $5 (plus the $1.50 vendor fee) controlled
hunt permit fee [Total $13]. If this bill is passed, a person would
pay a $5.50 controlled hunt application fee (plus the $1.50 vendor
fee), and if successfully drawn, a $4 controlled hunt permit fee
(plus the $1.50 vendor fee) [Total $12.50].
An unsuccessful applicant currently pays a $5 controlled hunt
application fee (plus the $1.50 vendor fee) for a total of $6.50.
If this bill is passed, an unsuccessful applicant will pay a $5.50
controlled hunt application fee (plus the $1.50 vendor fee) for a
total of $7.
