]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-seventh Legislature Second Regular Session - 2004IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 625 BY STATE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO CITY ELECTIONS AND CAMPAIGN EXPENDITURES; AMENDING SECTION 50-477, 3 IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE APPLICABILITY OF CAMPAIGN EXPENDITURE REPORTING TO 4 ELECTIONS ON CITYWIDE MEASURES AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE CITY ATTORNEY SHALL 5 STAND IN PLACE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL WHEN CAMPAIGN REPORTING LAW APPLIES 6 TO ELECTIONS IN CERTAIN CITIES. 7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 8 SECTION 1. That Section 50-477, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby 9 amended to read as follows: 10 50-477. APPLICATION OF CAMPAIGN EXPENDITURES REPORTING LAW TOCERTAIN11CITYELECTIONS IN CERTAIN CITIES. The provisions of sections 67-6601 through 12 67-6616 and 67-6623 through 67-6628, Idaho Code, insofar as they relate to the 13 reporting of campaign contributions, are hereby made applicable to all elec- 14 tions for mayor,andcouncilman and citywide measures in cities of sixteen 15 thousand (16,000) or more population, except that the city clerk shall stand 16 in place of the secretary of state, and the city attorney shall stand in place 17 of the attorney general.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 13817 The purpose of this legislation is to provide applicability of campaign expenditure reporting to elections on citywide measures and to provide that the city attorney shall stand in place of the attorney general when campaign reporting law applies to elections in certain cities.
