2 RELATING TO THE LEGISLATURE RATIFYING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE
3 UNITED STATES; AMENDING CHAPTER 5, TITLE 67, IDAHO CODE, BY THE ADDITION
4 OF A NEW SECTION 67-515, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE A PROCEDURE FOR THE LEGIS-
5 LATURE TO RATIFY A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED
6 STATES.
7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
8 SECTION 1. That Chapter 5, Title 67, Idaho Code, be, and the same is
9 hereby amended by the addition thereto of a NEW SECTION, to be known and des-
10 ignated as Section 67-515, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:
11 67-515. RATIFYING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.
12 Whenever the legislature desires to ratify a proposed amendment to the consti-
13 tution of the United States as provided in Article 5 of the constitution of
14 the United States, it shall do so by adoption of a concurrent resolution. The
15 chief clerk of the house of representatives or the secretary of the senate,
16 where the concurrent resolution originated, shall forward a copy of the
17 adopted concurrent resolution to the vice president of the United States, the
18 speaker of the United States house of representatives, and the congressional
19 delegation representing Idaho in the United States congress.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS 14258
This legislation statutorily defines how Idaho ratifies a
proposed constitutional amendment to the US Constitution. Idaho
has a varied history on adoption. This legislation adopts the
concurrent resolution process. See Joint Rule 2 and 6.
