]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-seventh Legislature Second Regular Session - 2004IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 52 BY WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 2 PROPOSING A NEW JOINT RULE 23 TO THE JOINT RULES OF THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE 3 OF REPRESENTATIVES. 4 Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 5 WHEREAS, health care and health insurance issues continue to play a promi- 6 nent policy role in the state of Idaho; and 7 WHEREAS, the Health Care Task Force has been studying health care issues 8 for several years in order to evaluate health care policies and proposals in 9 Idaho; and 10 WHEREAS, the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate 11 believe that a new Joint Rule 23 should be added to the Joint Rules of the 12 Senate and the House of Representatives to provide for the creation of a 13 Health Care Standing Committee to continue to undertake the evaluation and 14 recommendation of policies and legislation to address health care and health 15 insurance issues. 16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Second Regular Ses- 17 sion of the Fifty-seventh Idaho Legislature, the House of Representatives and 18 the Senate concurring therein, that the Joint Rules of the Senate and the 19 House of Representatives be amended by the addition thereto of a new Joint 20 Rule to read as follows: 21 JOINT RULE 23 22 Health Care Standing Committee. -- Notwithstanding any other 23 rule of the Legislature to the contrary, there is hereby established 24 a Health Care standing committee whose members shall be appointed by 25 the Speaker and the President Pro Tempore; the number of members on 26 the Health Care committee shall be fixed in the order of appointment, 27 and such order shall be read into the Journal; and provided that 28 other rules of the Legislature applicable to standing committees 29 shall also apply to the Health Care standing committee.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 14181 This resolution establishes a new standing committee for Health Care. FISCAL IMPACT Expenses would include the addition of a committee secretary and office equipment including a desk, phone, computer, and space. There would be cost savings derived from relief of LSO staff who currently provide support for the Health Care Task Force. There is no additional cost incurred by legislators themselves.
