STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 14078 The Office of Performance Evaluation, in its study of pupil transportation, recommended that the Department of Education improve accountability of funds; ensure accurate, equitable and consistent reporting mechanisms by all school districts; and provide resources necessary for appropriate oversight of Idaho s pupil transportation support program. FISCAL IMPACT It is estimated that 1.8 FTEs would need to be hired to accomplish this task and the anticipated additional cost would be $190,100. The average saving to the State over the past ten years was $16,000 per audit and, with the additional personnel, there could actually be a overall saving to the state.
