STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 14077 The Office of Performance Evaluation, in its study of pupil transportation, recommended that the Department of Education review and approve local contracts for pupil transportation. This legislation incorporates their suggestion but also provides for an appeal process to the State Board of Education should a local district disagree with Department conclusions. FISCAL IMPACT Minimal cost of contract review, based on the small number of contracts statewide and the duration of each contract.
