  1                                 A SENATE RESOLUTION
  2    EXPRESSING SINCERE APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE IN MEMORY OF  JANICE  DIXON  FOR
  3        HER DEDICATED AND DEVOTED CONTRIBUTION TO IDAHO EDUCATION AND TO THE LIVES
  4        OF IDAHO CHILDREN.
                                                                        
  5    Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  6        WHEREAS,  the Senate herein extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude
  7    in memory of Janice Dixon, who passed away suddenly on February 12, 2004,  for
  8    her  dedicated and devoted contribution to Idaho education and to the lives of
  9    Idaho children; and
 10        WHEREAS, Janice Dixon was born and raised in  Gooding,  Idaho,  graduating
 11    from Gooding High School in 1969; and
 12        WHEREAS, after earning her college degree, Janice Dixon returned to Idaho,
 13    teaching  first and second grade in Idaho Falls for the next thirty years, the
 14    last twenty-four of which were at Westside Elementary School; and
 15        WHEREAS, Janice Dixon was known by her friends, colleagues, and  the  par-
 16    ents  of  her students, as a woman of great kindness, concern and inspiration;
 17    and
 18        WHEREAS, Janice Dixon used many effective reading  strategies  to  enhance
 19    the first and second grade curricula; and
 20        WHEREAS,  State  Senator Bart Davis, while participating in reading to the
 21    students of Janice Dixon, found her love for her students  remarkable  as  she
 22    taught how letters become words, how words become sentences, and how sentences
 23    become thoughts; and
 24        WHEREAS,  Janice  Dixon  positively touched the lives of hundreds of Idaho
 25    children with her endless encouragement and support and will be remembered  by
 26    these children as a teacher who genuinely cared about them and who made a dif-
 27    ference in their lives.
 28        NOW,  THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Senate, assembled in
 29    the Second Regular Session of the Fifty-seventh Idaho  Legislature,  that  the
 30    Senate  expresses  its  sincere appreciation and gratitude in memory of Janice
 31    Dixon for her dedicated and devoted contribution to Idaho education and to the
 32    lives of Idaho children.
