]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-eighth Legislature First Regular Session - 2005IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE PROCLAMATION NO. 4 BY STATE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE 1 A PROCLAMATION 2 COMMENDING THE PARTIES INVOLVED IN CREATING AND SUSTAINING TECHCONNECT. 3 We, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of Idaho 4 assembled in the First Regular Session of the Fifty-eighth Idaho Legislature, 5 do hereby proclaim that: 6 WHEREAS, the State of Idaho has benefited from private sector support and 7 contributions; and 8 WHEREAS, the statewide program TechConnect, founded in 2003, works to pro- 9 mote high technology entrepreneurship and strengthen early state science and 10 technology companies; and 11 WHEREAS, the program combines education, networking, venture capital, and 12 collaboration between government and business to accomplish its goals and 13 would not be in existence without private and public sector support; and 14 WHEREAS, we would like to thank and recognize those entities who have 15 contributed to the existence of TechConnect in Idaho: 16 (1) Bechtel, Babcock and Wilcox, which has invested over $500,000, to 17 date, in Idaho economic development; 18 (2) Regional Development Alliance/Community Reuse Organization which has 19 made a three-year pledge to the organization for $50,000 in the years 2003, 20 2004 and 2005; 21 (3) Bannock Development Association, which has provided administrative 22 support to TechConnect; 23 (4) Small Business Development Center of Boise State University which has 24 provided funding and office space for the TechConnect Director; 25 (5) Idaho State University which has provided office space to support 26 TechConnect; 27 (6) Idaho's Office of Science and Technology in the Department of Com- 28 merce and Labor which has contributed $15,000 to each of the three TechConnect 29 offices; and 30 (7) The Office of Governor Kempthorne which has, to date, contributed 31 $15,000. 32 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the members of the House of Represen- 33 tatives assembled in the First Regular Session of the Fifty-eighth Idaho Leg- 34 islature, that we proclaim March 24, 2005, TechConnect Day in the House of 35 Representatives and we recognize and celebrate the contributions of the above- 36 named entities and persons to the founding and continuance of TechConnect.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 15185 The purpose of this proclamation is to recognize and commend the public and private partners who in 2003 founded Idaho's TechConnect program. TechConnect helps grow Idaho's business community and therefore Idaho's economic well-being. FISCAL NOTE There is no fiscal impact.
