| Fiscal Note |
Senate Bill No. 1224 reduced the distribution of cigarette tax moneys going to the Idaho State Police from $250,000 down to $200,000 for fiscal year 2006. Section 1 of this bill replaces this loss of funding with an appropriation from the General Fund for continued support of juvenile drug testing within the Bureau of Forensic Services.
In addition, Senate Bill No. 1054 moved 4% of funds derived from certain vehicle-related fines and forfeitures from the General Fund to the Peace Officer Training Fund ($280,000); and increased the fee assessed by the courts from certain offenders from $6.00 to $10.00 ($1.1 million) all for the purpose of supporting a new Corrections Academy. Section 2 and 3 of this bill provides the necessary spending authority and staffing levels for the Peace Officers Standards and Training Academy to administer this new training activity.
