]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-eighth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2006IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1395 BY EDUCATION COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO THE EXPERIENCE FACTOR FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS; AMENDING SECTION 3 33-1004A, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE THAT ACTUAL YEARS OF TEACHING OR ADMINIS- 4 TRATIVE SERVICE IN AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY SHALL COUNT IN 5 DETERMINING THE EXPERIENCE FACTOR FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS. 6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 7 SECTION 1. That Section 33-1004A, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby 8 amended to read as follows: 9 33-1004A. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION MULTIPLIER. Instructional staff whose initial 39 certificate is an occupational specialist certificate shall be treated as BA 40 degree prepared instructional staff. Credits earned by such occupational spe- 41 cialist instructional staff after initial certification shall be credited 2 1 toward the education factor. 2 In determining the statewide average multiplier for instructional staff, 3 no multiplier in excess of 1.59092 shall be used. If the actual statewide 4 average multiplier for instructional staff, as determined by this section, 5 exceeds 1.59092, then each school district's instructional staff multiplier 6 shall be multiplied by the result of 1.59092 divided by the actual statewide 7 average multiplier for instructional staff. 8 In determining the statewide average multiplier for administrative staff, 9 no multiplier in excess of 1.86643 shall be used. If the actual statewide 10 average multiplier for administrative staff, as determined by this section, 11 exceeds 1.86643, then each school district's administrative staff multiplier 12 shall be multiplied by the result of 1.86643 divided by the actual statewide 13 average multiplier for administrative staff.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 15572 The purpose of this legislation is to allow school districts to competitively hire teachers with prior experience teaching at college or university level (rather than solely in public schools) and enable this experience to be reflected in the years taught on the pay matrix.
