KINDERGARTEN - Repeals existing law that provided that it shall not be
compulsory for individual school districts to establish a kindergarten
program; and that it not be mandatory for a child who is eligible age for
attendance to enroll in an established public kindergarten.

2 RELATING TO KINDERGARTENS; REPEALING SECTION 33-208, IDAHO CODE, WHICH PRO-
3 VIDED THAT IT SHALL NOT BE COMPULSORY FOR INDIVIDUAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO
4 ESTABLISH A KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM AND IT SHALL NOT BE MANDATORY FOR A CHILD
5 WHO IS ELIGIBLE BY AGE FOR ATTENDANCE TO ENROLL IN AN ESTABLISHED PUBLIC
6 KINDERGARTEN.
7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
8 SECTION 1. That Section 33-208, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby
9 repealed.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS 15586
To remove from Idaho Code a reference to offering
Kindergarten.
FISCAL NOTE
No impact on the General Fund would occur because, according
to the Department of Education, all districts in Idaho currently
offer Kindergarten and these student counts are included in the
Average Daily Attendance figures reported by the districts in
order to be counted in the state's funding formulas.
