STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 16135 This House Concurrent Resolution recognizes the importance of Medicaid's role as the health services payer of last resort for Idahoans with low incomes and/or special needs and requests that the Legislature encourage the Department to require Medicare- eligible individuals to enroll in Medicare as a condition of eligibility for Idaho Medicaid. This requirement will reduce use of state general fund dollars to cover these individuals and provide, at minimum, the same benefits that they currently receive. The Department of Health and Welfare will report the results of this benefit change to the Legislature. FISCAL NOTE The implementation of required enrollment in Medicare for Medicare-eligible individuals as a condition of eligibility for Idaho Medicaid for will result in savings to the General Fund of $640,888 in fiscal year 2007.
