Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact

                    STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

                          RS 16607

This bill would amend the chapter relating to
coordinated family services by providing that family court
services coordinators are required to submit to a thorough
background check, including a criminal history check and
checks of the sexual abuse registry, adult protection
registry and sexual offender registry. Currently, family
court services coordinators assist families in need in a
variety of cases coming before the courts. This bill will
insure that the persons involved in this sensitive task,
often involving contact with children, will be carefully
  screened before being appointed.

                        FISCAL NOTE

This bill would have no impact on the general fund.
