]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-ninth Legislature First Regular Session - 2007IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1081 BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND TAXATION COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO PUBLIC HEALTH DISTRICTS; AMENDING SECTION 39-412, IDAHO CODE, TO 3 REVISE THE COMPENSATION PAID TO BOARD MEMBERS. 4 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 5 SECTION 1. That Section 39-412, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby 6 amended to read as follows: 7 39-412. MEETINGS OF THE DISTRICT BOARD -- COMPENSATION OF MEMBERS. The 8 district board shall hold such meetings as may be necessary for the orderly 9 conduct of its business and such meetings may be called upon seventy-two (72) 10 hours' notice by the chairman or a majority of the members. Four (4) members 11 shall be necessary to constitute a quorum and the action of the majority of 12 members present shall be the action of the board. The members of the board 13 shall be compensated as provided by section 59-509(hi), Idaho Code.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 16780 The purpose of this legislation is to increase the compensation to members of the district boards of health for each day spent in the actual performance of duties from $50 to $75. Board members must take time from their regular jobs and duties to attend to the demands of the public on behalf of the districts. Increasing the compensation rate is the appropriate thing to do for these dedicated members who serve the public. FISCAL IMPACT The fiscal impact to the state is minimal. The cost to each district board of health is approximately $2,000 per year, totaling $14,000 for the seven districts statewide. The state=s portion of the districts= total budget is approximately 17.5%, resulting in the state=s share of the increase being approximately $2,500. Counties provide about 14% of the funding and the balance of the cost would be borne by the other funding sources of the districts. Contact Name: Senator Brent Hill Phone: 208-332-1315 Rep.
